Mr.Bhagwan Singh
Mr.Bhagwan Singh has completed about four decades in active journalism, starting as a reporter in the Press Trust of India ( PTI) at its Chennai office in 1978. Later, he moved on to become the first correspondent of The Week, magazine to cover Tamilnadu and Srilanka when the magazine was launched by Malayala Manorama in the early 80s. During the tenure at The week, he had done extensive reporting on the ethnic war in Srilanka, including a boat trip in Rameswaram to Jaffna for a first First-hand report ( from any journalist) on the Tamil conflict in the island country
Moving on, he joined the SUNDAY magazine of Anand Bazar Group as Special correspondent, Covering Tamil Nadu, Andra Pradesh and Sri Lanka. Later he joined Deccan Chronicle about 23 year ago as Special correspondent when DC launched its Chennai Edition in March 2005, took charge as the Chief News Bureau to coordinate news flow from all over Tamilnadu and also the other southern states. He was promoted as Consulting Editor in April, 2008 Bhagwan Singh is its Executive Editor now.
Mr. Bhagwan Singh also wrties for the Asian Age, which has editions at New Delhi and Mumbai. Mr.Singh has extensively covered politics, human interest, business, sports social issues, health, the Sri Lankan Conflict, besides reporting on the tsunami and recovery efforts.
Mr. Bhagwan Singh has the degree in Mathematics and a Post-graduate diploma in journalism and Mass communication
